Post-surgical patients in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit have an increased risk for pressure injuries due to complex medical conditions and prolonged operative times. After implementing a new electronic medical record system at University Health Network Toronto General Hospital in 2022, a significant knowledge-to practice gap was identified: the majority could not locate and confidently use the Skin Health Medical Directives.
