Jamie Toner is a transformative nursing leader whose career reflects a deep commitment to inclusive, community-based care and meaningful system change. With more than 15 years of experience across long-term care and developmental services, Toner brings a strong foundation in the sector. She spent 15 years at John Noble Home, a municipal long-term care home, where she worked at the point of care and in leadership. Most recently, she served as director of inclusive supports within an organization funded by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services. She is driven by a desire to advance innovation, strengthen teams and improve outcomes for the individuals and communities she serves and continues to actively collaborate with sector partners in pursuit of these goals.

Toner is widely recognized as the architect of the Integrated Health Model (IHM), a proactive and data-informed approach to addressing preventable health crises among adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Through this model, she led a comprehensive redesign of care delivery, embedding early detection, structured clinical oversight, enhanced medication management and interdisciplinary collaboration into everyday practice.

Grounded in authenticity, trust and a respect for lived experience, Toner leads with a focus on collaboration and co-creation. She is known for balancing operational clarity with relational insight, building cultures where people feel seen, heard and empowered to contribute. A strong advocate for a palliative approach to care, Toner emphasizes quality of life, dignity and comfort for individuals, families and care partners. Her work champions dignity, connection and quality across the continuum, demonstrating how nursing leadership can shape equitable, integrated systems that support people to live well within their communities while experiencing compassionate, person-centred care.
