Steve McKinley is the Atlantic Canada correspondent for the Toronto Star. He began his 30-year career as a photographer, and has worked variously as photographer, reporter and editor at, among others, Reuters, Postmedia, The Globe and Mail, the National Post and the New Brunswick Telegraph Journal. He also was editor-in-chief of the ParkdaleLiberty, a wicked fun community paper in Toronto's Parkdale neighbourhood. That work has taken him from one side of the country to the other as well as Canada’s northern territories. In a previous life, he had every good intention of becoming a marine biologist.
