Integrating Clinical Pathways Into Your BPSO Journey

September 18, 2025

Fairmount Home is a long-term care(LTC) home in Glenburnie Ontario and a member of RNAO's Best Practice Spotlight Organization (BPSO) program. In this webinar representatives from Fairmount share its journey through the first year of becoming a BPSO pre-designate while also implementing RNAO Clinical Pathways. It is designed to help participants understand the key challenges and considerations involved in navigating both processes, emphasizing the importance of preparation.

In this webinar, presenters outline how the Fairmont prepared for the implementation process and the factors considered prior to submitting a BPSO application. They share strategies used to engage champions — not only to meet the goal of having 20 per cent of staff involved, but also to foster meaningful engagement that supports cultural transformation.

The session includes an overview of Fairmount’s Clinical Pathways program journey, highlighting how clinical pathways were integrated into daily practice. Presenters describe the structured approach used to educate staff and involve the wider Fairmount community in the initiative.

By watching this webinar health-care professionals, caregivers and administrators can also benefit from Fairmount Home's lessons learned, such as the value of early engagement, the importance of a multidisciplinary approach, the involvement of residents and families, and the benefits of embedding BPSO principles from the beginning.
