RNAO Celebrates National Nurse Practitioner Week

Happy Nurse Practitioner (NP) Week. We cherish your day-to-day work as an NP and your membership in RNAO.

RNAO proudly celebrates the contributions of NPs in Ontario’s health system during National NP Week – Nov. 9 – 15, 2025. Thank you to each RNAO NP member who advocates for the full utilization of NPs across the health system, across the province and who continue to improve health access and outcomes for Ontarians.

As Ontario’s primary care crisis persists, RNAO reinforces publicly-funded and fairly compensated NPs as a necessary solution. To respond to the province’s growing population, the government must focus on building the NP workforce and commit to an expanded scope of practice to fully utilize the advanced knowledge and clinical expertise of NPs.

RNAO also calls on the government to develop a comprehensive plan that  includes expanding the number of NP-led clinics in Ontario to 54 by 2029, securing competitive compensation for all NPs, creating innovative publicly funded opportunities for NPs to serve the public free from user fees, and supporting models of care where NPs act as most responsible providers alongside a team of health professionals, including in Ontario Health Teams.
