About this event

The Nursing Students of Ontario (NSO) invites all its members to join us for an educational webinar: Planetary Health is Health: Nursing into a more Sustainable Future on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2026 @ 7 - 8:30 p.m. ET. Planetary Health is a social movement and transdisciplinary field that recognizes that health of humans are fundamentally tied to the health of our planet's natural systems. It is a solutions-oriented approach with an emphasis on addressing climate change, loss of biodiversity, and more. How these issues affect our day to day life, communities as a whole, and populations lead us to look at systems-level changes to be more equitable, sustainable, while promoting more sustainable practices.

We will be honoured to hear from two guest speakers: Dr. Barbara Astle RN, PhD, FCAN, FAAN of Trinity Western University and Ankur Patel (he/him) RN, BScN, ICN SECN Canadian Delegate. We will be discussing the intricacies of Planetary Health, its importance, how nurses and nursing students can incorporate it into our practice, and more through the use of exemplars and lived experience. We will also have the opportunity to have an open forum for discussion after the presentation.

As we are all living it, the NSO hopes to spark a fruitful conversation about planetary health.
