Tania Paolini is a registered nurse and the manager of Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) at The Perley and Rideau Veterans' Health Centre (Perley Rideau), the largest long-term care facility in Ottawa. Tania has always been passionate about working with the frail elderly and quickly jumped at the opportunity to manage the Infection and Prevention and Control program at Perley Rideau in 2016. Among her many achievements over the years is increasing vaccine uptake and hand hygiene compliance rates, as well as creating a robust outbreak management and prevention program. These successes certainly contributed to setting up the home in the fight against COVID-19 during this unprecedented time. Additionally, during COVID-19, Tania worked with partners to support other homes in need by disseminating knowledge related to Infection Prevention and Control practices in long-term care. Tania believes that being visible and present on the front line is a key attribute in leadership and management.
