Region 10, Ottawa, is dedicated to speaking out for nurses. Over the past several years, the executive team has cultivated strong working relationships with local MPPs, MPs and municipal councillors. As a result of these relationships, the chapter was able to help advocate with nurse practitioners who submitted a proposal for an NP-led clinic in Ottawa that has since been approved for funding and will focus on serving the mental health and addictions needs of residents. Region 10 is also actively supporting a new generation of nurses by hosting an annual resume writing workshop and transition to practice event. The Region 10 executive believes collaboration is key to success, and prioritizes collaboration with different RNAO interest groups. This year, they worked with RNAO’s Mental Health Nursing Interest Group to host a speaker series about moral injury in nursing. Region 10 is committed to continuing to elevate and support the voices of nurses in Ottawa.

The Chapter of the Year award goes to a chapter or region without chapters (RWC) that best exemplifies a commitment to RNAO through active promotion, participation and initiation of projects that promote healthy public policy and the role of the RN or NP in its region. The chapter or RWC uses a variety of media and communications tools to effectively engage with its region, influence decision-makers, mobilize RNs/NPs to take action and increase membership. This chapter or RWC demonstrates strong leadership in its nursing and health-care community, and its activities reflect RNAO's ENDs.
