Remove environmental legislation from the “red tape” Bill

Environmental protections are not “red tape”.  Please urge the government to remove proposed amendments to more than a dozen pieces of environmental legislation from its “red tape” omnibus bill.

Bill 132 - the Better for People, Smarter for Business Act, 2019 - affects over 80 pieces of legislation, including more than a dozen laws that protect the environment and safeguard human health.  Examples of environmental laws that will be amended by Bill 132 include the Pesticides Act, the Aggregate Resources Act and the Environmental Protection Act

RNAO believes that legislation that is so intimately connected with human life and human health, such as the environmental laws affected by Bill 132, should be subject to fulsome public consultation, expert analysis, close examination by Committee and debate in the Legislature.

However, debate in the legislature on these important laws has been limited by the government’s “time allocation” motion. Postings on the Environmental Registry will conform to the legal minimum.

Let the government know that you want environmental legislation removed from this “red tape” bill.

This action alert is addressed to Premier Doug Ford.
