Thatparan (Para) Vinayagamoorthy is the RPN recipient of the 2024 Nursing Now Ontario Awards. Originally from Sri Lanka, Vinayagamoorthy began his career in Canada after graduating from Centennial College in 2019. He serves the community at Scarborough’s SE Health, specializing in palliative care.
Vinayagamoorthy's role includes pain management, wound care and infusion therapy for end-of-life patients. He values establishing trust with patients and families from diverse cultural backgrounds. As a palliative care nurse, Vinayagamoorthy approaches care with empathy and understanding, providing education and support to patients and their families as they navigate the challenges of pain management.
As a valued member of the SE Health team at SE Health, Vinayagamoorthy embraces collaboration and interdisciplinary communication. He works closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, care coordinators and other health professionals to deliver comprehensive quality care tailored to each patient's unique needs.
Throughout his career, Vinayagamoorthy has expanded his knowledge by participating in ongoing education, such as the Living Engaged and Actively with Pain and Comprehensive Advanced Palliative Care Education programs, as well as weekly educational sessions facilitated by the Continuous Professional Competence program. Vinayagamoorthy’s commitment to lifelong learning equips him with the latest advancements in his field.
