Jameal Reid is manager of professional practice at Trillium Health Partners (THP). She is a passionate leader and advocate for the collaboration of interprofessional teams to advance patient outcomes. With 20 years of health-care experience, Jameal has held multiple nursing roles, from bedside RN to informing and developing strategy. She brings a wealth of clinical knowledge to each role. She has led the implementation of RNAO’s Risk Assessment and Prevention of Pressure Ulcers BPG at THP and has started work on the Assessment and Management of Foot Ulcers for People with Diabetes BPG. Jameal has hardwired various practices related to hospital acquired pressure injuries at THP to create a positive culture and embed standardization for continuous quality improvement for zero patient harm. Her leadership, education and dedication has made great impact, and one example can be seen through the most recent Prevalence and Incidence (P&I) Audit, conducted in March 2024. Despite workforce and capacity pressures, THP achieved one of its lowest P&I scores to date (3.97 per cent).
The Leadership Award in BPG Implementation is awarded to the RN, NP or Ontario-based health-care organization that promotes excellence in nursing practice and nursing work-life balance. The recipient of this award works to enhance the image of nursing through the committed use and advancement of RNAO’s best practice guidelines (BPG) in the workplace.
