Purposeful Rounding: A Proactive Approach to Decreasing the Incidence of Falls

Purposeful rounding is an evidence-based approach to reducing the incidence of falls by addressing the patient’s basic needs on a regular basis.
This presentation will highlight Lakeridge Health’s systematic approach to applying RNAO’s recommendation on purposeful rounding as a key strategy to decrease the incidence of falls within a multisite acute community-based health-care organization.
During this presentation, participants will:
- explore the concept of and evidence for purposeful rounding
- discuss the strategies used to successfully implement purposeful rounding across the organization
- discuss the barriers and challenges to implementing purposeful rounding
- review the direct and indirect outcomes of purposeful rounding in the organization
