Facilitators and barriers to best practice guideline implementation at an organization and staff level

Grey Bruce Health Unit conducted an evaluation of the barriers and facilitators to best practice guideline (BPG) Implementation at an organizational and staff level as part of the Best Practice Spotlight Organization candidacy. Best practice guideline Champions, committee members and lead managers were interviewed to discuss their experiences with BPG implementation.

Results of the evaluation will be shared as well as recommendations for all organizations involved in BPG implementation.

Objectives
During this presentation, participations will learn how to:

Monitor and manage BPG implementation at an organization level
Consistently develop strategies to facilitate BPG implementation
Use best practices to address barriers to BPG implementation at a staff, manager and organizational level.

Lindsay Wonnacott, BHSc, MPH
Lindsay Wonnacott is a program evaluator with the Grey Bruce Health Unit, where she has worked since 2008. In this role, she provides leadership in program planning and evaluation to all health unit programs and services. She holds a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Alberta and a Bachelor of Health Sciences from the University of Western Ontario.

Sarah Ellis, RN, BScN, Med
Sarah is a Public Health Manager at Grey Bruce Health Unit with responsibilities for overseeing BPSO designate activities and the vaccine preventable diseases program. Sarah received her undergraduate nursing degree from McMaster University and a Master's Degree in Education -specializing in curriculum teaching and learning from University of Toronto.
