RNAO engaged a number of stakeholders representative of nursing to form a provincial taskforce to ensure a stable and sustainable nursing workforce exists in rural, remote and northern areas of Ontario by bringing together policymakers, professional and labour associations, administrators, researchers, educators and other stakeholders.
The task force provides recommendations to promote recruitment and retention of nurses in remote and northern communities. The task force recognizes that culture and context are integral to the implementation of the recommendations and have attempted to deliver recommendations that respect the richness and diversity of these communities.
