Exempt health-care workers from Bill 124, premier!

Join us! Call on the premier to immediately exempt nurses and other health-care workers from Bill 124.

Bill 124 forcibly suppresses the compensation of the very health-care workers that the government calls “heroes.”

Throughout the past 14 months – and counting! – of this pandemic, health-care workers across Ontario – especially nurses -- have selflessly cared for citizens of Ontario while confronting fears for their own health and safety and that of their loved ones. They are exhausted. They are burnt out.

The lack of respect for health-care workers implicit in Bill 124 is informing the decision of many health-care workers to leave their professions - not just post-pandemic but now. These departures will lead to even longer wait times for already backlogged procedures and surgeries, compromising people’s health and threatening the effective functioning of Ontario’s health system.

Public officials have uttered words of appreciation, but meaningful and tangible signs of appreciation have been sparse. So, join us! Call on the premier to immediately exempt nurses and other health- care workers from Bill 124.
