The event will provide the opportunity to highlight how ableism affects students, educators, professionals and patients. Through real-life examples and personal stories, the event will illustrate the prevalence and impact of ableism on educational settings, working environments and delivery of health care.

Why is this event important to me?

  1. Raises awareness and understanding of the concept of accessibility concerns and ableism within nursing education.
  2. Highlights inconsistencies within nursing program clinical placements requirements (for example, lack of accommodation/diverse abilities for student placements).
  3. Promotes inclusive practices in education and within the workplace.

Who should attend: Nursing students, registered nurses and nurse practitioners – this event is open to all RNAO members.
