About this event

This webinar is designed for nurse practitioners (NPs), from novice to expert including NP students on updates of non-pharmacological approaches to treating insomnia

The presenter is Dr. Jennifer Innis, NP, PhD. Jennifer is currently an assistant professor in the teaching stream at the Lawrence Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing at the University of Toronto, and also works as a volunteer nurse practitioner at the Canadian Centre for Refugee and Immigrant Health Care.

Objectives:

During this webinar, participants will learn:

  • Define insomnia and the prevalence of insomnia
  • Describe the role of the nurse practitioner in the assessment of insomnia
  • Identify issues with sedative use
  • Discuss strategies for nurse practitioners to manage insomnia using non-pharmacologic approaches
  • Describe approaches for deprescribing sedatives
