JOB SUMMARY:

The primary responsibilities of the Systems Administrator/Developer  are to ensure the stability, integrity, performance, and sustainability of the RNAO systems/network infrastructure. Other responsibilities may involve other programs encompassing the parameters of Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, design, and develop infrastructure technologies for high availability and security for RNAO.
  • Provide technical guidance in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of those technologies
  • Install and upgrade the Drupal content management system and CiviCRM
  • Identify and install additional modules, plug-ins and associated software as required 
  • Modify system configurations 
  • Adapt and integrate modules and other compatible software throughout the RNAO  systems or MOHLTC as required.
  • Write Drupal modules as required to handle  specific requirements
  • Lead projects as assigned such as developing a Drupal module to solve a specific business problem or implementing functionalities for the assigned program.
  • Configure Drupal Content Types, CCK fields and Views.
  • Customize Drupal templates to modify colors, layout, and images.
  • Research, assess, analyze and recommend technology solutions that meet business and system needs for corporate-grade applications such as server software, backup technology, network monitoring, off site data replication, disaster recovery, etc.
  • Prepare high level, detailed technical specifications for implementation
  • Troubleshoot & answer support issues and escalate issues requiring management attention in a timely manner
  • Assist in the technical implementation of a best practice development framework
  • Assess the technical business continuity resiliency of the technical infrastructure
  • Research and recommend a combination of best practices and technical solutions to ensure data security, appropriate server/network/workstation administration, and prevention of data loss
  • Coordinate backups and perform database/disaster recovery tests for the assigned program
  • Coordinate the maintenance of complete technical documentation on all resources on the network and on all process and procedures required to maintain the IT Infrastructure operational for the assigned program
  • Maintain relationships with the relevant Open Source software communities
  • Other duties as required by the job.

SKILL, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • University or College diploma in a related field with three to five years related experience or combination of education, experience, training and/or industry standard certification.
  • Strong experience with Linux server administration, installation and maintenance
  • Strong experience with open source software, in particular with mySQL, php, Drupal, CiviCRM
  • Experience and knowledge with Vmware. Vmware certification would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated  technical knowledge of networking technologies, firewalls, vLANs, DMZs, intrusion prevention/detection, etc.
  • Knowledge of virtual server technologies including servers, NAS, networks, data replication, high availability configurations, etc.
  • Proven experience with capacity planning and performance tuning of enterprise-level systems/network infrastructures.
  • Ability to conduct in-depth research into issues and technologies as required
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective technical documentation, including current/future states during upgrades or system implementations. 
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve issues with servers, workstations, storage devices, network devices, firewalls, and other information technology equipment
  • Understanding of relational data bases, workstations, servers and related peripherals.
  • Good communication skills to communicate with team members and staff members in order to provide or get information.

EFFORT:

  • Work flow requires meeting regular deadlines that may require an increase in speed, re-prioritizing the workload and meeting multiple demands.
  • Concentration is required for short and long periods of time to maintain attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and in multi-disciplinary teams with high degree of accuracy.
  • Sight, touch and hearing are required to check amounts, file information, perform data entry tasks and answer general inquiries
  • Physical demands include sitting at a computer to process information,  and lifting and moving hard drives and monitors, lifting servers and network devices and bolting them to the rack.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Works in a climate-controlled office environment and within the server room with regular exposure to  distractions, interruptions, stress from multiple demands, and noise.
  • Typical conditions are such that  no risk or injury is possible.
  • Required to work overtime on short notice at off hours from time to time to resolve critical system/network issues.
