JOB SUMMARY:

The primary function of the Senior Program Manager, eHealth is to lead and assist with the development and implementation of digitized versions of RNAO’s best practice guidelines in the International Affairs and Best Practice Guidelines (IABPG) Centre, including supporting the work of the Best Practice Spotlight Organization® (BPSO®) and RNAO Clinical Pathways™ programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • In collaboration with the Director, manage the daily activities and deliverables of the RNAO clinical pathways team, including allocation of human resources to various organizations participating in the RNAO Clinical Pathways program.
  • Lead the design and validation of RNAO Clinical Pathways aligned with standardized nursing terminology, including SNOMED CT and ICNP.
  • Lead the design and integration of RNAO Clinical Pathways in electronic documentation systems across the continuum of care including the automation of data collection and extraction processes to support and expand the NQuIRE data system.
  • Lead the RNAO clinical pathways team in the application of the Knowledge-to-Action and Social Movement Action frameworks to effectively engage in implementation, education, communication, evaluation and sustainability planning to support the adoption of RNAO Clinical Pathways by BPSOs and non-BPSOs provincially, nationally and internationally.
  • Lead the development and implementation of project management tools, resources and implementation strategies that are aligned with existing IABPG programs.
  • Collaborate with RNAO’s long-term care (LTC) implementation coaches, data scientists, project coordinators and guideline development methodologists as well as subject matter experts in the LTC sector including directors of nursing, directors of care, RAI coordinators and quality improvement specialists to facilitate the development, implementation and evaluation of the RNAO Clinical Pathways.
  • Lead the RNAO clinical pathways team in strategic planning to advance the uptake of the RNAO Clinical Pathways program in the long-term care and other sectors.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director of LTC Best Practices Program to expand the BPSO Program among LTC homes participating in the RNAO Clinical Pathways program.
  • Co-lead and/or participate in research activities to determine the impact of the RNAO Clinical Pathways.
  • Protect the branding of RNAO by ensuring that the product is consistently referred to as the RNAO Clinical Pathways.
  • Conduct performance reviews of the Sr. Implementation Specialist, Implementation Specialists and the project coordinator. 
  • Coordinate, prepare, and deliver presentations, publications, posters and other activities related to the RNAO Clinical Pathways.
  • Develop and deliver workshops, seminars, and presentations for a variety of portfolio- related topics to staff, external members, and groups as professional development interests and needs arise.
  • Provide formal and informal consultation to RNAO staff, organizational affiliates, and others in relation to the RNAO Clinical Pathways, as required.
  • Represent RNAO on internal and external committees, working groups, and research teams, as appropriate.
  • Assist in the activities related to the overall IABPG Centre objectives and other MOH/MLTC projects as required.
  • Any other job-related tasks as assigned.

SKILL, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A Registered Nurse with current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Masters degree in nursing or related field and ten years’ related experience in clinical informatics and BPG implementation (includes a minimum of 5 years clinical nursing experience).
  • Knowledge of implementation science and change management principles.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize, organize workload, work independently and in a team environment, be accurate and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical skills and strong attention to details.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to prepare and deliver reports, proposals, presentations and other correspondence.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to lead the RNAO clinical pathways team, and engage and work with stakeholders, colleagues and outside contacts to receive and provide information, assist with problem solving, resolve unusual or sensitive enquiries, and negotiate to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Ability to work independently and with teams including internal and external stakeholders; experience in direct staff supervision is preferred.

EFFORT:

  • Workflow requires meeting regular deadlines that may require an increase in speed, re-prioritizing the workload and meeting multiple demands.
  • Concentration is required for short and long periods of time to read information and prepare reports about potentially sensitive information.
  • Retain the highest degree of privacy of information received.
  • Sight, touch and hearing are used to prepare correspondence and answer telephone inquiries.
  • Sitting at the computer is required regularly, as well as walking, standing and operating equipment to perform the duties of the job.
  • Travel is required related to dissemination activities and homesite visit.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Works in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to lack of privacy, noise, distractions/interruptions, or stress from multiple demands.
  • RNAO is currently working hybrid with two mandatory days at the home office
  • Typical conditions are such that no risk or injury is present.
