JOB SUMMARY:

The Sr. Implementation Specialist is a member of the IABPG Centre, whose role focuses specifically on the RNAO Clinical Pathways Program. The goal of this Program is to utilize implementation science which at RNAO includes two frameworks: knowledge to action and social movement action to promote technology-enabled evidence-based practice in Ontario’s long-term care (LTC) sector through the implementation of digitized versions of RNAO’s Best Practice Guidelines (BPGs) known as RNAO Clinical Pathways. The primary responsibilities of the Sr. Implementation Specialist are to collaborate with the eHealth Program Manager and to actively support Implementation Specialists by leading and coordinating key activities to ensure successful adoption of the RNAO Clinical Pathways among participating LTC homes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as the principal liaison for all Implementation Specialists providing guidance and support throughout all phases of the RNAO BPG Clinical Pathways’ implementation.
  • Build capacity in the Implementation Specialists to ensure implementation fidelity and key messaging around the benefits of using RNAO BPG Clinical Pathways to promote adoption, sustainability and spread.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to lead and influence change and meet identified targets/deliverables.
  • Engage in strategic planning to support the implementation and spread of the RNAO Clinical Pathways in the LTC sector.
  • Protects the branding of RNAO by ensuring that the program is referred to the RNAO Clinical Pathways.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of project management tools, resources and implementation strategies that are aligned with existing IABPG programs.
  • Plan and facilitate in-person and/or virtual implementation team meetings and professional development offerings (e.g., staff orientation) using principles of adult learning
  • Coordinate referrals to the RNAO LTC Best Practice Program for LTC homes needing additional support to attain the state of readiness required for their RNAO BPG Clinical Pathways implementation.
  • Support the ongoing evaluation of the RNAO BPG Clinical Pathways Program by contributing to the development and implementation of the evaluation plan and following up on relevant findings and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with the eHealth Program Manager to identify areas for improvement and operational efficiency and to create a collaborative and productive work environment that fosters professional growth and engagement of all team members.
  • Provide coverage for vacant Implementation Specialist positions, as needed.
  • Lead and/or participate in research activities to determine the impact of RNAO’s BPG Clinical Pathways in LTC homes in Ontario.
  • Coordinate the development and execution of promotional activities including newsletters, journal articles, and social media activities
  • Contribute to the performance reviews of Implementation Specialists and the project coordinator.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Registered Nurse with current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field preferred.
  • Experience in the role of Director of Nursing or Director of Care in the LTC sector.
  • Experience in the role of LTC BP Coordinator at RNAO is an asset.
  • Previous experience with any of the following is an asset: implementation of RNAO’s BPGs, RNAO’s Best Practice Spotlight Organization Program, evidence-based practice, integration of RNAO Clinical Pathways/Order Sets, RAI-MDS, clinical informatics.
  • Detail-oriented with strong project management skills to prioritize and organize workload and achieve accuracy in meeting deliverables and deadlines.
  • Excellent team-building, interpersonal and leadership skills to engage and collaborate with staff and mobilize Implementation Specialists.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and demonstrated success leading new programs or initiatives.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities required to resolve conflicts and negotiate with stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in commonly used Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to prepare reports and facilitate meetings and presentations.
  • Ability to work independently and with teams including internal and external stakeholders.

EFFORT:

  • Workflow requires continuous re-prioritizing of workload, meeting multiple demands, and working overtime as required.
  • Continuous concentration is required to read, screen, and appraise a large volume of information daily, prepare reports and other documents, and to consult as appropriate.
  • Sight, touch and hearing are used to read, proofread, write, and analyze information and to answer enquiries.
  • Sitting is required frequently in the job for more than 2 hours at a time to read and write information, work on the computer, answer the telephone, and attend meetings.
  • Travel, including air travel, may be required related to dissemination activities and project work.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Works in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to lack of privacy, noise, distractions/interruptions, or stress from multiple demands.
  • Typical conditions are such that no risk of injury is present.

Please note that although this role is remote, it will require periodic travel and visits to the home office in Toronto.
