Preventing Discharge to Homelessness

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO) advocate to the provincial government to require hospitals to have a plan to prevent discharge to homelessness using evidence-based strategies such as having on-site social supports that include housing and financial assistance and;

THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that RNAO advocate to the provincial government for hospital-based, on-site social supports including housing advocates, identification card (ID) clinics, financial support assistance (Ontario Works [OW] and Ontario Disability Support Program [ODSP]) with wraparound transitional support provided in the community following discharge.
