Rosanra (Rosie) Yoon is a researcher at the University of Toronto who focuses on integrated care for people experiencing structural vulnerabilities, substance use and mental health challenges. Her clinical expertise is in substance use, concurrent mental health conditions, trauma and gender-informed care. She is a champion of trauma-informed leadership and organizational practices to support the psychological health and safety of people. Rosie says she is indebted to nursing for allowing her to give back and be of service caring for the people and populations who rely on nursing knowledge and skills for their wellbeing. She says this recognition is meaningful because it affirms that her research resonates with and is relevant to people. She hopes to further her nursing research in trauma informed, equity promoting, integrated care as a foundational approach in all aspects of achieving the quintuple aim in health services.
The Leadership Award in Nursing Research is presented to the RN or NP who actively explores innovative ideas in nursing research. This individual enhances the image of nursing by engaging in efforts to disseminate research knowledge, and is in dialogue with RNs, NPs and nursing students to identify nursing research needs. The member has a proven ability to attract research funding and actively participates in the activities of professional organizations.
