Ravin Walker

Ravin Walker works at Cat Lake First Nation. She is responsible for medication dispensing and direct observation therapy, medication reconciliation, overdose prevention, harm reduction, safe needle use and need distribution. She connects people to addiction medicine nurses and physicians and counselling, crisis intervention and withdrawal management services. She also helps coordinate medication adjustments and advocates for patients. Ravin began working in First Nation communities 14 years ago when she saw the need for support. This has allowed her to build a strong understanding and foundation for health systems. She is considering a nursing degree so she can add more support to the services she provides. Ravin is a best practice guideline (BPG) champion, supporting those with addiction and mental health issues. She says this award reinforces that her work is valued as more than just a job. This work has been a deep passion for her, and she is humbled to be recognized.

The Honoured Friend of Nursing Award is awarded to individual(s) who have made outstanding contributions to the nursing profession. The individual will have shown outstanding leadership and collaboration within the nursing community at a provincial level.
