You are invited to join an upcoming educational webinar focused on strengthening Nurse Practitioner capacity in HIV prevention, sexual health and sexually transmitted and blood-borne infection (STBBI) care.
This session will provide a practical, equity‑focused overview of how NPs can confidently integrate HIV prevention, sexual health, and STBBI management into their clinical practice.
The webinar brings together clinical, pharmacy and community perspectives to support culturally safe and trauma‑informed care for populations disproportionately affected by HIV and STBBIs, including Black, Indigenous, racialized, gender‑diverse, and newcomer communities.
Speakers:
- Veronica Segbedzie NP – Clinical lead in HIV prevention and STBBI care
- Rita Vicente, Pharmacist – PrEP clinic pharmacist providing medication and access expertise
- Natasha Lawrence, WHIWH – Community health worker bringing frontline insights on barriers, stigma and culturally safe care
Participants will gain practical knowledge and strategies on:
- PrEP, PEP & PIP prescribing in NP practice
- Baseline labs, follow-up and medication considerations
- Anal cancer screening basics (DARE & anal Pap)
- Managing common STBBIs (syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia)
- Equity‑driven and trauma‑informed communication
- Integrating sexual health into routine NP visits
- Community-informed approaches to improving access and trust
