RNAO members united at “Draw the Line”

On Sept. 20, RNAO members joined thousands across Canada in the Draw the Line National Day of Action. People at rallies across the country called on Prime Minister Mark Carney and the federal government to put equity, climate action, Indigenous sovereignty, migrant rights and peace ahead of profit-driven interests and militarization.

In Toronto, close to 2,000 people filled Sankofa Square before marching through downtown to Queen’s Park. RNAO’s president NP Lhamo Dolkar, CEO Dr. Doris Grinspun and other RNAO leaders stood with members as part of this powerful call for change. Speakers called for urgent action on the issues of concern, climate crisis in particular.

In Niagara Falls, RNAO’s president-elect Sue LeBeau led the association’s contingency, joining allies in calling for a just and sustainable future. Members also took part in rallies held in Guelph, Hamilton, and London.

Ahead of the mobilization, RNAO leadership underscored why this collective action matters: “Policy choices matter, and as nurses, we see the consequences every day,” said RNAO President NP Lhamo Dolkar. “This collective day of unity sends a clear message: leaders must put people and the planet first.”

RNAO is proud to have endorsed this historic mobilization and thanks all members who raised their voices to draw the line.
