Sudbury and District Chapter of RNAO
Michael Roach is chair of the Sudbury and District Chapter of RNAO. He is a sessional faculty member of Laurentian University’s School of Nursing and the clinical manager for Regional Outpatient Addictions Services at Health Sciences North.
He is an advocate for implementing innovative approaches to substance use treatment and enhancing harm reduction initiatives in the hospital and community settings. He provides leadership for both local, regional and provincial substance use treatment and harm reduction initiatives in urban, rural and remote settings.
Michael is a passionate educator, promoting active learning for nursing students and practising nurses in the classroom, lab and clinical setting. He is a registered nurse with a varied background in education, nursing regulation, mental health and community health.
This leadership award recognizes an RN or NP who practises excellence as a nurse educator in a health-care setting. This individual enhances the role of nursing by encouraging critical thinking, innovation and debate about important nursing issues, and acts as a role model and mentor in their work environment.
