Michelle Trinh is the NP recipient of the 2026 Nursing Now Ontario Awards. Born and raised in Calgary, Trinh completed a degree in biological sciences before pursuing nursing at the University of Calgary, graduating in 2009. After beginning her career at Toronto General Hospital in multi-organ transplant and nephrology, she pursued graduate studies at the University of Toronto to deepen her involvement in patient-care decision-making. She later became one of the few nurse practitioners specializing in thrombosis at Toronto General’s thrombosis clinic before joining the Toronto Rehab Bickle Centre in 2023.

At the Bickle Centre, Trinh is known for her collaborative leadership, clinical expertise and mentorship. Working in a setting where nurse practitioners practise with a high degree of autonomy, she helps care for patients with increasingly complex needs while supporting staff across disciplines. Colleagues describe her as approachable, calming and deeply supportive during high-pressure situations, noting that she “creates confidence rather than fear.”

Trinh is also passionate about education. Since joining the Bickle Centre, she has mentored numerous NP students while supporting RPNs, RNs and other team members through formal and informal teaching opportunities. Through her monthly educational emails, From the Desk of Michelle, Trinh shares clinical guidance, encourages questions and helps create a culture where learning feels approachable and collaborative.

Known throughout her workplace for her bright-coloured scrubs and energetic personality, Trinh brings warmth and humour to her practice while remaining deeply committed to patient-centred care. She says she feels honoured to represent nurse practitioners in Ontario and hopes to continue supporting the next generation of nurses through mentorship and leadership.
