Meet RNAO’s senior manager, LTC Best Practices Program, Janet Chee

As the newest member of the RNAO team, I am excited to be joining RNAO once again as the senior manager of the Long-Term Care Best Practices Program. I have nine years of long-term care experience garnered at the Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care. I was the director of resident care at the Yee Hong Scarborough Finch site (250-bed), acting senior director of corporate development, and most recently the executive director for the Scarborough Finch site. I learned that it’s not easy implementing and sustaining change in long-term care, but with persistence, planning and capacity building at all levels of the team, positive outcomes can be achieved towards the goal of improved resident quality of life. I have a great love and passion for the long-term care sector and hope to bring that experience and passion to this program.

Prior to my time in long-term care, I was very lucky to work at RNAO as a senior program manager in the IABPG program (now centre), developing guidelines, leading implementation projects and supporting a variety of programs. I also worked in the pharmaceutical industry and started my career in neonatal nursing. I have a Masters of Nursing Degree from the University of Toronto, Project Management Professional Designation from the Project Management Institute, and a wide variety of certificates in both clinical and leadership topics. Most recently, I’ve been working towards my Canadian Health Executive (CHE) designation.

I look forward to working with all of you.
