Re: Regulation Amendments – Conflict of Interest and Related Professional Misconduct

To Whom It May Concern,

The Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO) is the professional association for registered nurses in Ontario. RNAO members practice in all roles and sectors across the province. Our mandate is to advocate for healthy public policy and for the role of registered nurses in enhancing the health of Ontarians. We welcome this opportunity to present our views to the College of Optometrists of Ontarioon Regulation Amendments – Conflict of Interest and related Professional Misconduct.

RNAO commends the College of Optometrists of Ontario for its ongoing efforts to engage in broad and comprehensive consultation on proposed amendments to Conflict of Interest and Professional Misconduct Regulations for Optometrists. We support the proposed amendments confident that their implementation will enhance transparency and public protection in collaborative practice environments. They will serve the public interest by clarifying the allowable business relationships between optometrists and other vision care providers to permit access to essential vision care services in a cost-effective and accountable manner.

Thank you once again for the opportunity to provide feedback on this important issue.

Warm regards,

Doris Grinspun, RN, MSN, PhD(c), O.ONT.
