ACTION ALERT: Vote TODAY to Support Supervised Injection Site – Have Your Say!

April 18, 2011

Renowned British medical journal The Lancet discovered what nurses working in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside have known since the Insite supervised injection clinic opened in 2003 – supervised injection saves lives.

That’s why the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO) and Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) and the Association of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (ARNBC) have been granted intervener status at next month’s Supreme Court of Canada hearing.

Supervision of injection drug use at Insite has virtually eliminated the risk of death by overdose and greatly reduced the risk of infectious disease. Nurses at Insite provide a range of health care service while supervising users who inject drugs, including access to counseling and consultation that can lead to abstinence and rehabilitation.
