Supporting First Nations during COVID-19

In partnership with RNAO, the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), Shkaabe Makwa, Nishnawbe Aski Nation, Chiefs of Ontario and Indigenous Services Canada hosted a webinar on June 24 to discuss the mental health and well-being of health-care providers during the pandemic.

Participants heard about self-care strategies using Indigenous and non-Indigenous practices, tools and resources to support mental health and the different emotions health-care providers may be experiencing.

The webinar featured speaker Kahontakwas Diane Longboat, Elder and senior project manager guiding directions implementation at CAMH. Longboat is also a member of the Turtle Clan, Mohawk Nation at Six Nations Grand River Territory in Canada.
