RNAO’s 20th-annual Take Your MPP to Work is a resounding success

RNAO’s annual Take Your MPP to Work event went virtual this year due to COVID-19 physical distancing protocols.

Take Your MPP to Work LIVE – Together We Can Do It launched during Nursing Week in May and featured 12 organizations representing various health settings co-hosting virtual meetings. Thirteen politicians took part, including the first ever visit with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, as well as Premier Doug Ford, Health Minister Christine Elliott, Long-Term Care Minister Merrilee Fullerton, Official Opposition leader and leader of the NDP Andrea Horwath and Green Party leader Mike Schreiner, among others.

Nurses, from all roles and sectors, passionately shared their patient care experiences, highlighting the challenges but also the successes, illustrating their incredible ability to create innovative solutions to complex problems. Other topics of discussion included health and long-term care system transformation, infection prevention and control, vulnerable and under-serviced populations, Indigenous health, VIANurse and self-care.
