1. Best Practice Champions Workshop

The Best Practice Champions Workshop is a one day in-person session designed to introduce nurses and other health-care professionals to the RNAO Toolkit: Implementation of Best Practice Guidelines, Second Edition. Through interactive activities, participants will further their understanding of evidence-based practice, RNAO’s best practice guidelines, and effective strategies for guideline implementation in health-care settings including conducting a gap analysis, assessing stakeholders, applying successful strategies for guideline implementation and evaluation, and understanding keys to promoting sustained practice change.

Questions and/or completed applications for the Best Practice Champions Workshop should be directed to Andrea Stubbs, project lead, at astubbs@RNAO.ca

2. Addressing Substance Use Champions Workshops (foundational or advanced)

The Addressing Substance Use Best Practice Champions Foundational (level one) Workshop will provide nurses and other health professionals with the tools and skills to provide safe, ethical and competent care to persons in all clinical settings who use substances. Participants will learn concepts related to stigma, licit and illicit drugs, social determinants of health, harm reduction and explore best practices related to screening, brief interventions and referral to treatment. This content will be integrated with key content from the RNAO Toolkit: Implementation of Best Practice Guidelines, Second Edition.

The Addressing Substance Use Best Practice Champions Advanced (level two) Workshop expands on the content delivered in the Addressing Substance Use Best Practice Champions Foundational (level one) Workshop. This workshop will focus on the Engaging Clients Who Use Substances best practice guideline and will highlight the guideline recommendations related to in-depth screening, comprehensive assessment and pharmacological and psychosocial interventions.

NOTE: Only organizations that have previously hosted an Addressing Substance Use Best Practice Champions Foundational (level one) Workshop are eligible to host an advanced (level two) workshop.

Questions and/or completed applications for the addressing substance use champions workshops (foundational or advanced) should be directed to Kyle Dieleman, project coordinator, at kdieleman@RNAO.ca
