Do you believe health-care professionals should publicly disclose payments and gifts they receive from pharmaceutical companies? See the results

The results are in. After 77 responses, our In the Loop poll has found that a majority of respondents feel health-care professionals should publicly disclose payments and gifts (such as free meals) they receive from pharmaceutical companies.

Yes – 76 per cent
No – 14 per cent
Undecided – 9 per cent

In September, new legislation was introduced by Health Minister Eric Hoskins that would require pharmaceutical and medical equipment companies to publicly disclose payments and gifts they offer health professionals as well as create a searchable database, which members of the public can access.

RNAO supports the legislation and is urging the provincial government to ban the practice altogether.
