The #Maskathon campaign encourages both children and adults to wash their hands, maintain physical distancing and wear a mask to prevent the spread of COVID-19. We continue to urge anyone over the age of three to properly wear a non-medical mask or face covering in indoor public spaces (schools, playgrounds, malls, stores), busy areas and transit.

One of RNAO’s fall season policy events is fast approaching. Queen's Park on the Road (QPOR) kicks off in September and continues through November 2020. NP Task Force update

Mobilizing a future vision for nurse practitioners is essential to the health of the population and practice excellence. The Nurse Practitioner Task Force: Vision for Tomorrow was launched at RNAO’s 2019 AGM, and is now nearing completion. The soon-to-be released report reflects the work of a diverse team of nurse practitioners and stakeholders representing all sectors, and is based on evidence from an extensive literature review, environmental scan and broad stakeholder consultation.

Ontario organizations now have the opportunity to join an international community dedicated to making a positive impact on patient/resident care through evidence-based practice. RNAO will release two request-for-proposals (RFP) on Oct. 2, 2020 for health service/academic institutions and long-term care (LTC) homes interested in becoming a Best Practice Spotlight Organization (BPSO).

RNAO hosts first virtual Champions workshop for BPSO OHT

As part of the Best Practice Spotlight Organization program for Ontario Health Teams (BPSO OHT), RNAO hosted its first virtual Champions workshop. The program works with OHTs to improve patient outcomes, patient experience, cost effectiveness and an improved patient experience. Despite the challenges of COVID-19, the Ottawa East Health Team/Équipe Santé Ottawa Est — the fourth BPSO OHT of the inaugural cohort — recruited 54 brilliant and engaged Champions to participate in training between Aug. 19-21.
