Take Your MPP to Work 2016

This year, RNAO celebrates its 16th Annual Take your MPP to Work™ event. Site visits will begin in Nursing Week from May 9 - to 15th and will continue through to the end of June to ensure each MPP has the opportunity to go to work with an RN or NP.

Created in 2001, Take Your MPP to Work™ focused on the three political party leaders. They went to work with a registered nurse to see first-hand, the skills and expertise needed to provide high quality health care to Ontarians every day. The site visits also allowed the politicians to better understand the breadth and depth of nursing practice across Ontario and the challenges and opportunities associated with providing care in different settings.

Since then, Take Your MPP to Work™ has grown into a popular signature event for our organization. Our members have taken Premiers, Cabinet Ministers, Opposition Leaders, and backbench MPPs to work in hospitals, community health centres, family health teams, nurse practitioner-led clinics, long-term care homes, public health units, and post-secondary institutions. In 2015, 60 MPPs had the unique experience of seeing RNs and NPs deliver health care services in every type of practice setting right across Ontario.
