Implementation of “Promoting and Supporting the Initiation, Exclusivity, and Continuation of Breastfeeding for Newborns, Infants, and Young Children” Best Practice Guideline in a Rural Public Health Setting

Tue, 2019-12-10 12:00 - 12:45
About this Event:

This webinar will focus on the ongoing implementation and sustainability of RNAO's Promoting and Supporting the Inititation, Exclusivity and Continuation of Breastfeeding for Newborns, Infants and Young Children best practice guideline (BPG) at Grey Bruce Health Unit.

Public health units not only provide one-on-one client care, but they also work in a paradigm where the entire community is the client. By focusing on BPG interventions that increase staff knowledge and capacity, Grey Bruce Health Unit created a shared culture of learning that enhanced breastfeeding best practices in the organization. A focus on community-based needs and collaboration continues to enhance learning throughout the community and create ongoing possibilites for sustainability and continued growth.

As a participant, learn how the staff at Grey Bruce Health Unit continue to identify, review and strengthen their best practices in their organization and share this learning throughout their community.

During this webinar, participants will learn how to:

  • implement best practices and standardize tools
  • consistently provide opportunities for staff education using adult education principles
  • promote community-wide evidence-based practices by sharing knowledge, practices and tools and by providing educational opportunities
  • make a plan for sustainable change
