This champions information sharing webinar is designed for health-care providers and students to understand how the collaborative process between public health and long-term care can support best practices in the community.
This webinar focuses on the planning and delivery of a joint showcase open house between Niagara Region Public Health and Woodlands of Sunset long-term care (LTC) home. This presentation will highlight some of the strategies they used to engage staff prior to the open house and provide participants with practical knowledge and skills on effective staff engagement with RNAO best practice activities.

The showcase open house provided Niagara Region Public Health and Woodlands of Sunset LTC home with an opportunity to meet with community partners who share in their work and support clients along their continuum of care. The open house event also gave them the opportunity to highlight the great work that the best practice champions have had on improved client care and health care outcomes over the past year.
During this presentation, participants will:
- gain an understanding of the activities used to engage the staff members at Niagara Region Public Health and Woodlands of Sunset LTC home;
- gain an appreciation of the benefits of collaborating with other Best Practice Spotlight Organizations (BPSO);
- gain an understanding of the activities involved in becoming a BPSO across a multisite site long-term care organization; and
- gain an understanding of the benefits of collaborating with and inviting community partners, including educational facilities to engage in meaningful knowledge exchange.
