Wed, 2018-11-28 12:00 - 13:00
Webinar
About this Event:

Cannabis is one of the most commonly used psychoactive substances in Ontario, along with alcohol and tobacco. The legalization of cannabis occured on Oct. 17, when it became legal for adults over 19 to use cannabis without a prescription.

This webinar will introduce the rationale for legalization as a public health approach to minimizing the harms associated with cannabis use. It will also provide an overview of cannabis use patterns in Ontario across the life span.  In 2017, 19 per cent of students in grade 7-12 and 14.5 per cent of adults reported trying cannabis in the past year. The webinar will also explore health issues related to cannabis use and health approaches that can reduce harms as outlined in the Canadian Lower-Risk Cannabis Use Guidelines.
