Bringing the Clinical Perspective and the Voice of the Patient Experience Together: Implementation of the Assessment and Management of Pain Best Practice Guideline

Dec 15, 2020, 12:00pm - 12:45pm
About this Event:

This webinar is designed for health-care providers and students  who are interested in learning from a nurse leader and a person with lived experience about the value of having a patient experience partner (PEP) as a member of a clinical working team.

The webinar will focus on the role of the PEP as part of the assessment and management of a Best Practice Guideline (BPG) team and how the partnership benefitted the guideline implementation process and the participants involved.

We asked ourselves:

  •  “How well are we doing with respecting the rights and the dignity of the people we serve?”
  • “What areas do we need to work on to improve communication?”
  • “How do we get staff to recognize patients as experts in their own care?”

By including the patient voice on our BPG team, we were able to ask these tough questions and consider our actions through the patient lens.

During this presentation, participants will:

  • gain an appreciation for the patient experience partner’s (PEP) involvement in clinical initiatives;
  • gain a better understanding of the collaborative partnership between clinical staff and the PEP;
  • learn about the active and meaningful participation of persons with lived experience in the planning and implementation of BPG recommendations; and
  • learn about how PEPs engage in knowledge translation and evaluation activities that arise from the clinical working team.
