The RNAO has developed the "Nursing Faculty Education Guide (NFEG): Tobacco Use and Associated Health Risks" to assist Nurse Educators in integrating smoking cessation content into the curriculum.
The goals for the Guide are as follows:
Facilitate the seamless integration of the RNAO Best Practice Guideline Integrating Smoking Cessation into Daily Nursing Practice (RNAO, 2007) into nursing education programs, resulting in widespread integration of evidence-based tobacco cessation practices among nurses and nursing students.
Reinforce nurses’ role in tobacco prevention, protection and cessation.
Contribute to the health of Canadians by ensuring that nursing students are equipped with the knowledge of smoking cessation evidence-based practices.
