JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO) is seeking a full-time full stack Drupal Developer who will thrive as part of the innovative and supportive Information Management and Technology team (IM&T). We are looking for someone who writes organized, well-documented code, strives to follow coding standards and implement best practices, and who succeeds when working collaboratively on a team comprised of content editors, designers, developers, and project owners.

The successful candidate will have strong technical skills combined with the ability to be creative and compassionate. They will possess excellent communication habits in order to work well with team members from multiple departments and external partners. Equally important is that this individual will aspire to embody RNAO’s core goals.

This is a Level 8 position under a Collective Agreement with the Canadian Office & Professional Employees Union, Local 343, with an annual starting salary of $71,215 with annual increments reaching $93,146 after four years, plus a full benefits package including a defined benefit pension plan.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Working with a collaborative interdisciplinary team to build web pages and sites that focus on our end user’s needs
  • Drupal 8/9 site building tasks such as:
  • Enabling and configuring modules
  • Settings, configurations, views, menus, view modes
  • Writing and debugging back-end code for Drupal which may include custom modules to handle RNAO specific requirements
  • Writing and debugging front-end code for Drupal including but not limited to Drupal templates, CSS frameworks and Javascript
  • Working with Drupal 8/9 tools such as Drush, Composer, Configuration Management, Plugins, Services, etc
  • Managing a local development environment and working with command line tools (Lando, Git etc.)
  • Attending scheduled meetings with the project teams to provide updates
  • Assisting as needed with content modelling and architecting solutions
  • Collaborating, planning and completing development tasks
  • Assisting with back-end performance assessments and improvements
  • Providing insight to help improve Drupal Expertise of co-workers
  • Documenting and evaluating requests from staff
  • Setting priorities, expectations, and communicating with managers and/or staff around project needs and task progress
  • Provide knowledge transfer through documentation as well as in-person training of staff and users

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • University degree or college diploma in computer science or related area and three to five years related experience
  • Knowledge of Drupal coding best practices and security standards
  • Used Git for version control in past professional roles
  • Familiarity working within an agile workflow and project ticketing systems
  • Has a well-rounded understanding of Drupal-adjunct technologies such as the LAMP or LEMP platforms, and Drupal theming
  • Strong verbal and written communication to interpret and explain complex information and to work with users with varying levels of expertise
  • Has a professional, collaborative, and proactive approach to people and problems.
  • The ability to use the following skills on a daily basis: friendliness, judgment, empowerment, respect, integrity, tact, and honesty
  • Self-directed: able to work independently and within a virtual and in person team, and consistently manage your own time and tasks

BONUS POINTS:

  • Ability to write Javascript and non-Drupal code
  • Familiarity with CiviCRM.
  • DevOps knowledge.
  • Knowledge of Docker-based local development environments like Lando
  • Familiarity with accessibility best-practices.
  • Been an active member of an open-source web community.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Two or more years enterprise-level Drupal development experience or equivalent relevant experience required
  • Must have a reliable internet connection and a willingness to work from home until we return to the office
