Registed Nurses' Association of Ontario

HUB Fellowship: Anita Tsang-Sit

This award offers the recipient the opportunity to get in the thick of things with a one-week placement with RNAO CEO Doris Grinspun. The $2000 HUB Fellowship is generously sponsored by RNAO’s Group Home and Auto Insurance provider, HUB International Ontario Limited.

With a political science degree, master of public health, and BScN under her belt, it’s no surprise Anita Tsang-Sit has always had a passion for political action in health. “It’s important for nurses to have a voice because we work so closely with patients and clients, and we’re so ingrained in the health-care system,” she says. “We really are the eyes and ears.” Political advocacy is one of the reasons Anita first joined RNAO in 2005 as a student and became president of the association’s Peel chapter in 2014. During her presidency, she spoke out for nurses by organizing meetings with MPPs to advocate for issues that RNs, NPs, and nursing students face in Ontario. When she is not busy advocating for the role of nurses, she is providing expertise in the identification, assessment and mitigation of risks in health-care delivery as an enterprise risk management consultant for Trillium Health Partners. Anita says she is looking forward to the opportunity to shadow RNAO CEO Doris Grinspun for a week, and to one day be part of RNAO’s board of directors.
