CTV News Northern Ontario

Carrie Trownson is the anchor for CTV News Northern Ontario weekend edition at six. She has been a video journalist for almost eight years and takes the responsibility of sharing peoples’ stories seriously, especially the stories of those struggling with medical conditions. Having people open up about their fears, and taking viewers inside the decisions surrounding their health, is a very personal experience that Carrie has been grateful to share. She started her broadcast career working for cable news, where she learned how to use video and sound to engage viewers. A sociology graduate from the University of Waterloo, Carrie studied gender equality. It was here she realized her passion for human rights and visual storytelling. She was accepted into Humber College’s advanced journalism program, and has been carrying around a notepad and video camera ever since.
