TORONTO, Jan. 8, 2014 – The deadline for reporters, editors and producers to submit their best nursing and health-care stories in the Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario's (RNAO) annual Media Awards competition is approaching quickly.
For over a decade, RNAO, the province's professional nursing association comprised of over 36,000 members, has honoured outstanding journalism that helps to inform, analyze and contribute to a better understanding of nursing and our health-care system. Past winners have explored a variety of topics, including youth mental health, the do-not-resuscitate discussion and the integral role palliative care plays in the lives of terminally ill patients.
The association is strongly encouraging journalists from across Ontario to submit work that comprehensively covers a nursing or health-care topic. This year's categories are:
Exceptional reporting on an RN/nursing issue
Entries must have been published in Ontario newspapers, magazines, online publications or broadcast on radio or television during the 2013 calendar year. Winners will receive their awards in May at the President's Banquet held during RNAO's Annual General Meeting.
Stories are judged on content, writing, creativity and their impact on communities.
Submissions must be received at RNAO's head office in Toronto no later than January 17, 2014 at 4:30 p.m. Only one entry per person will be accepted. Please note: last year's winners are not eligible for an award.
