Nurses and other health professionals working in every country in the world should be carefully watching for patients with emerging infectious respiratory diseases, such as the Middle East respiratory syndrome - coronavirus (MERS-CoV) and the avian influenza A(H7N9) virus. International efforts are underway to identify key clinical characteristics of these viruses, associated treatment and care, and implications for health care settings, health workers, and public health.
RNAO is pleased to be collaborating with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) to co-ordinate a webinar that will feature senior officials from the MOHLTC, Ministry of Labour and Public Health Ontario to review information about emerging infectious diseases and provide key information about health care worker occupational health & safety measures and infection prevention & control measures related to these diseases. This presentation will include information on the application of the precautionary principle when dealing with emerging infectious respiratory diseases, and the intersection of responsibilities with public health officials.
The webinar will include an opportunity to ask questions.
