FINAL COUNTDOWN: TELL PRIME MINISTER HARPER: “DON’T FAIL CANADIANS - ACT NOW ON CLIMATE CHANGE!”
December 17, 2009
History is being made at this very moment. Prime Minister Stephen Harper has landed in Copenhagen to join the world’s leaders at the most important climate change meeting we have ever witnessed.
So far the news is very bad. There is no deal on emission-reduction targets. Canada is widely viewed by developing countries, the United Nations, scientists and environmentalists as part of the problem, not part of the solution. For many Canadians, Prime Minister Harper’s failure to act on climate change is a national embarrassment. For nurses, who know how global warming is dangerous for our health, Canada’s dropping the ball on the global stage is inexcusable.
Is it too late? No!
What can you do? Send a simple email message to the Prime Minister. One simple line will do it: “DON’T FAIL CANADIANS - ACT NOW ON CLIMATE CHANGE!”
If every nurse in Ontario – if every nurse in Canada – wrote to the Prime Minister TODAY, he will get the message in Copenhagen. Nurses care about climate change, nurses have power, nurses vote! But we must write today. The clock is ticking, for this important conference, but more important, for our planet.
If you have already written to the Prime Minister, THANK YOU! Please do so again. If you have already signed a petition to the Prime Minister, you joined millions who demand action on climate change. But we need you one more time. Please send an email to Prime Minister Harper NOW.
