The purpose of the Healthy Work Environments Best Practice Guidelines (HWE BPG); Pilot Evaluation is to provide the RNAO and participating health-care sites with independent evidence on the perceived operational validity of the six foundational guidelines' recommendations; outline the ease of adoption as well as areas for improvement; and provide insight into ways HWE BPG implementation processes can be strengthened. As a result of this project, both RNAO and participating healthcare sites will be able to pinpoint best practices in action based on evidence gathered across three data collection periods.
The HWE BPG Pilot Evaluation will provide organizational and policy decision makers with clear evidence surrounding the health of nursing work environments across units/programs/departments and organizations. Data evidencing longitudinal changes will also be useful to health-care organizations when monitoring the level of impact evidenced following the application of targeted healthy work environment strategies.
The HWE BPG Pilot Evaluation is a independent third party research study spearheaded by Dr. Linda O'Brien Pallas (Principal Investigator) and Sara White (Director of Evaluation) of the University of Toronto Nursing Health Services Research Unit.
