VOTE YES TO PROVINCE’S OFFER OF TWO PUBLIC HEALTH NURSES
July 12, 2011
Thousands of nurses from all across Ontario joined their voices this week to challenge Toronto Mayor Rob Ford's decision to delay indefinitely the hiring of two fully funded public health nurses. Tomorrow – Wednesday, July 13 – Council will vote on a motion to reconsider this decision and accept the province's offer to fund 100 per cent of the cost of two public health nurses. To succeed, the motion must have the support of two-thirds of Council. Please help TODAY. We need nurses to keep up the intense pressure and once again speak out. Click here NOW to send one last email urging Council to vote yes to public health.
This is not just a Toronto issue. And it's not about Mayor Ford. It's about health and what we all know: more nurses mean better outcomes, pure and simple. Shock waves of drastic cuts to public health and other services could spread across Ontario if other municipalities follow Toronto's lead.
