Volunteer opportunities: Join an RNAO committee

Participation on RNAO committees is an extremely rewarding and energizing experience. You will broaden your knowledge of nursing and health policy, improve your advocacy skills, expand your network within your professional association, and enhance your leadership skills.

Positions are available for RNAO members on the following committees:

Editorial Advisory Committee

The Editorial Advisory Committee (EAC) has one vacancy: general member.

Are you looking to enhance your leadership abilities? Do you want to broaden your knowledge about nursing publications?

As part of the EAC, you and other members will discuss the stories in the latest issue of RNAO's publication the Registered Nurse Journal (RNJ) and be responsible for ensuring the content is consistent with the priorities of the association.

The committee meets six times a year by teleconference. Committee members must attend at least two-thirds of all meetings and sign up for a two-year term.

Legal Assistance Program Committee

The Legal Assistance Program (LAP) Committee has one vacancy: general member.

The committee advises the board of directors on policy development related to LAP, increases overall awareness of legal issues related to nursing, and reviews individual requests for assistance as well as the operations of the program.

Membership Recruitment and Retention Committee

The Membership Recruitment and Retention Committee has one vacancy: student representative.

The committee is responsible for planning and implementing membership recruitment and retention strategies and evaluating RNAO's prestigious Recognition Awards. To be considered, please submit a brief note explaining your interest to Patricia Hogg at phogg@RNAO.ca

Nursing Research Committee

The Nursing Research Committee has two vacancies: nursing community representatives.

To apply, members must be currently conducting research as an investigator and publishing in peer-reviewed journals. Among other responsibilities, the committee advises the RNAO Board on nursing research issues from a research perspective. Policy Analysis & Development Committee

The Policy Analysis & Development Committee has one vacancy: general member.

The committee monitors policy issues and trends, provides recommendations on policy priority-setting, supports member engagement in the political action process, and reviews policy issues. To be considered for this vacancy, please submit your CV and a brief note explaining your interest to Annie Ytterberg at aytterberg@RNAO.ca

Workplace Liaison Council (WLC)

The Workplace Liaison Council has six vacancies: five region representatives and one student representative.

As part of the council, you help to inspire and drive educational offerings for workplace liaisons as well as provide support for liaisons in their recruitment, retention and engagement efforts in their organizations.

Applicants are needed from each of the following regions to participate in teleconference meetings designed to support and provide leadership to the Workplace Liaison Program. The program offers individuals a chance to represent RNAO in Ontario nursing workplaces. Members who become part of this council will be in charge of providing the general framework and direction for the program.

Region 3 (Brant, Niagara, and Hamilton)
Region 5 (Grey-Bruce, South Simcoe, Muskoka-Huronia-Parry Sound)
Region 6 (Toronto West)
Region 9 (Champlain, Lenark-Leeds-Grenville, Seaway and Kingston)
Region 12 (Kenora-Rainy River, Lakehead and Sioux Lookout)
Student representative
